For generations, Canyon Day has been a gathering place where our people come together to celebrate tradition, strengthen friendships, and honor the resilience and unity that define our community. The 2026 Canyon Day Open Show Fair and Rodeo proudly continues that legacy while carrying a meaningful theme this year: “Honoring Our Apache Veterans: Strength of Our Community.” This theme recognizes the brave Apache men and women who have served our nation and our people with courage, sacrifice, and honor. Their dedication reflects the strength, discipline, and warrior spirit that continues to guide and inspire our community today.

This year’s celebration promises three unforgettable days filled with excitement and entertainment for all ages. The festivities begin on Friday, May 1st, with the Junior Rodeo, where young riders and future rodeo champions will take to the arena to showcase their skills, determination, and courage. This special event highlights the next generation of rodeo talent and reflects the values of perseverance and pride that have been passed down through generations.

Throughout the weekend, rodeo fans will experience heart-pounding action as talented competitors take part in thrilling events such as bull riding, team roping, barrel racing, and other crowd-favorite rodeo competitions that capture the true spirit of rodeo life.

Families and children will enjoy the lively carnival midway filled with exciting rides, fun games, and delicious fair food that will bring the fairgrounds to life. Visitors can also explore local food booths, arts and crafts vendors, and community displays that highlight the creativity, culture, and entrepreneurial spirit of our people.

On Saturday, May 2nd, the community will gather for the colorful and energetic Canyon Day Community Fair Parade, featuring decorated floats, community groups, and organizations proudly showing their Canyon Day pride. The parade will also serve as a moment of recognition and respect for our Apache Veterans, honoring their service and sacrifices.

Immediately following the parade, the excitement continues with the highly anticipated Bull Bash, where fearless riders will challenge some of the toughest bulls for an electrifying event that rodeo fans will not want to miss.

As the sun sets each evening, the celebration continues with nightly community dances, where friends and families can gather, visit, and celebrate together under the evening sky. Throughout the weekend, additional local tournaments and community competitions will bring friendly rivalry and excitement while giving community members the chance to participate and showcase their talents.
